Duty on Texas border, 1913-1917. Was chief of public works, Vera Cruz Expedition, 1914. Commanding officer 1st and 2d Plattsburg military training camps, 1917.

Commander 66th Brigade Infantry, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Force, 1918. Commanded 9th Infantry, 1920-1922. O.C.N.A. 8th Corps Area, 1922-1925.

Commanding general 5th Brigade, 3d Division, and commanding Vancouver Barracks, Washington, 1925-1926. Then commanding general 21st Brigade, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and, October 6, since 1929, commanding general 5th Brigade, 3d Divison, Vancouver Barracks.
