Obituary – Ben J. Passe, 80
Ben J. Passe, age 80 of Wabasha passed away early Tuesday morning at the Wabasha Nursing Home where he had resided for the past year. He has been in ill health for many years.
He was born April 8, 1890 in Wabasha and he is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Passe, Sr. He married the former Mary Agnes Ender on October 5, 1917 in Winona. He is a veteran of WWI services in France for 13 months. He and his wife then farmed in Pepin Township until 1931 when he retired for reasons of health due to his army disability. He was then employed by the state highway department until he retired in 1957.
He was a former Wabasha mayor and was a member of American Legion and VFW Posts of Wabasha.
He is survived by seven sons, Harold of Rhinelander, Wis.; Arthur of Reads Landing; Harry of Winona; James of Venice, Calif.; Daniel of Osseo; and Robert and Ray, both of Wabasha. There are 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild. He is further survived by four brothers, George of Kellogg; Chris and Herman, both of Wabasha; and Frank of Rochester; and two sisters, Misses Theresa and Lucy, both of Wabasha.
His wife passed away in December of 1965, also two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Requiem Mass will be offered this afternoon at 1 p.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Davy. Internment will be in the church cemetery. The parish rosary was said by Fr. Davy Wednesday evening at the Abbott-Wise Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Lawrence, Elmer, Delbert, Ralph, and Dennis Passe and Leo Schones.
