Joseph J. Nemnich Sr., 77, of Troy, died at 5:30 a.m. today at his home. Mr. Nemnich was an auto mechanic, retiring in 1962 from Gindler's Studebaker in Troy.
He was born Feb. 12, 1896 in Pin Oak Township, a son of John and Amelia Wentz Nemnich. He was married Sept. 24, 1919 in Springfield, to Fannie Hultz. She survives.
Other survivors are a son, Joseph J. Nemnich Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Charmion) Semanisin, both of Troy; brothers Oliver Nemnich and Otto Nemnich, Edwardsville, and Leo (Peg) Nemnich, St. Louis; sisters Mrs. E.H. (Ann) Cheney and Mrs. Foster (Bess) Harmon, both of Edwardsville; Mrs. Kate Oswald, Taylorville, and Mrs. Hilda Smith, California; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Nemnich was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy; the American Legion post of Troy; Veterans of World War I, Barracks 286, Troy, and the International Association of Machinists Lodge 313, East St. Louis.
